Chin surgery in Fuengirola

Much more than mentoplasty

The chin defines the profile and the proportions of the lower third of the face. That is why, before operating, we analyse the relationship between the chin, nose, lips, neck and bite to choose the technique best suited to each case:

    Mentoplasty Surgery

Mentoplasty is a procedure that changes the size, shape or projection of the chin to improve the harmony of the profile. Depending on the case, it is performed with an implant or by reshaping the bone itself, always aiming for a natural, proportionate result with the rest of the features.

    Frequently asked questions

What is mentoplasty and what problems does it solve?

Mentoplasty is cosmetic chin surgery. It corrects receding, poorly defined, prominent or asymmetrical chins and improves the balance between the nose, lips and jaw. The result is a more harmonious profile and a better-defined facial contour.

Yes, and it is one of the most common combinations at Clínica Maxorl. Many patients who come to us about their nose discover during the assessment that their chin also affects their profile. Combining both surgeries allows the nose and chin to be balanced in a single operation, with one anaesthetic and a combined recovery, resulting in a more harmonious and natural outcome.

An implant adds projection simply and is suitable for moderate augmentation. Bony genioplasty repositions the patient’s own chin bone and allows larger corrections in several directions: forward, back, height or asymmetries. The choice depends on your anatomy and is decided at the assessment.

Adults whose facial growth is complete, who feel their chin is out of proportion with the rest of their face. It is common in patients who also come to us about their nose, as both structures are analysed together. If the cause is a bite problem, orthognathic surgery may be recommended.

In most cases the access is made inside the mouth, in the groove between the lower lip and the gum, so there is no external scar. In some cases a small incision under the chin, hidden in a natural crease, may be used.

During the first few days there may be swelling and a feeling of tightness in the area, controlled with cold compresses and prescribed medication. A soft diet is recommended for a few days if the approach is through the mouth. Most patients return to normal life within a week, and the final result becomes visible as the swelling disappears.

The price of mentoplasty in Fuengirola at Clínica Maxorl depends on the technique (implant or bony genioplasty), whether it is combined with other procedures such as rhinoplasty, and the type of anaesthesia. An exact cost requires a personalised assessment at the clinic, which is free of charge.
